Television Tower

Get a view from the top: 217 meter Television Tower, the symbol of the city, you have a panoramic view of the regional capital and its charming surroundings.

Altes Schloss

Built in 1320 as an island castle and extended the renaissance style between 1553 and in 1570. The castle has a splendid internal courtyard which is recognised by specialists as the loveliest of its kind in Germany. The Altes Schloss now houses the Württemberg stat museum.

Neues Schloss

Former residence of the kings of Württemberg. Built between 1746 and 1797 and between 1805 and 1807 in the late baroque style. As well as state rooms, the Neues Schloss now also houses two ministries of the Baden-Württemberg regional government.

Königsbau

Built on the Palace Square between 1856 an 1860. Stuttgart’s life revolves around the 135 meter long colonnade with its 34 pillars. The Königsbau is now the seat of the Stuttgart Stock Exchange, as well as many small shops. Numerous restaurants provide ample occasion for taking a break on your walk.

Fruchtkasten

The Fruchtkasten on the Schillerplatz first mentioned as a large grand winepress in 1393. The Renaissance gable dates from 1596 and was designed by Heinrich Schickardt. Once uses by the nobility as a store house for wine and corn, the building now houses the musical instrument collection of the Württemberg state museum.

Planetarium

The great Milky White Way, the sun, moon and stars – they are close enough to touch here at the Carl Zeiss Planetarium. The simulation is perfect. The projections displayed on the interior of the planetarium’s cupola can simulate everything from constellations that go back thousands of years t special events such as solar and lunar eclipses. Spectators can watch the presentations from the comfort of their reclining chairs.

Weissenhof settlement

It’s located right next to the Killesberg exhibtion site. 16 architects form five European countries built the exhibition houses for show entiled “Die Wohnung” held in 1927. Eleven of the original 21 houses are still standing, including homes designed by Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier and Scharoun.

Wilhelma

A wonderful experience is in store for the whole family with a visit to the Wilhelma, one of the largest zoological and botanical gardens in Europe. Over 9,000 animals, approximately 4,000 orchids, one of the largest magnolia and lots more can be found in this complex, commissioned by King Wilhelm I in 1850.

Württembergisches Landesmuseum

Prehistoric collections with the oldest hum sculptures and the grave goods of the Celtic prince of Hochdorf, Swabian sculptures and altars such as the Talheimer Altar. Also worth seeing: the ducal art collection, clocks, coins and the crown jewels of the Württemberg Dynasty.

Alte Staatsgalerie

Art form the Middle Ages to the 19th Century. German, Italian and Dutch old masters. Paintings and sculptures from classicism to impressionism.

Neue Staatsgalerie

It’s regarded as a major work of postmodernist architecture and was constructed between 1979 and 1984 by start architect J. Sterling. The building houses an exhibition of 20th Century art.

Linden Museum

The state museum of anthropology takes you on a small journey around the world under a single roof. It contains collections from America, South Seas, Africa, the Orient, South Seas, Africa, the Orient, South and East Asia, as well as many special exhibitions.

Museum of Viniculture

In the old winepress in Stuttgart-Uhlbach you will learn all there is to know about the history of vine-growing. As well as winepresses, barrels, drinking cups and wine containers from two centuries, the museum also houses a complete cooper’s shop.

Mercedes-Benz Museum

The museum of the oldest automobile factory in the world has over 110 years of automobile history on display with highlights such as famous vintage cars or the legendary Silver Arrow – a real treat for car fans.

Porsche-Museum

The museum of the world-famous Stuttgart-based manufacturer of racing cars and sports cars houses a number of racing legends and unforgettable classics – horse – power to make the heart break into gallop.

Castle Esslingen

It rises high above Esslingen at Neckar’s historic Old Town. Visitors recognize its characteristic silhouette consisting of the Hochwacht, Seilergang and Dicker Turm immediately. However, although it is now called a castle, it actually never was one. It was never home to any knights ore princesses. In fact, its sole historic purpose was that of In fact, its sole historic purpose was that of the nothernmost part of the foreboding town ramparts. The structure was first mentioned in documents of 1314. In the time from 1519 – 1531 the ramparts of the imperial city of Esslingen were further expanded.

Residental Chateau

Thanks to its precious furnishings, the Residential Chateau Ludwigsburg is one of Europe’s most imposing and most expansive baroque properties. The dukes and kings of Württemberg used it as their residence. People of all ages adore the baroque rooms inside the Residential Chateau, as does the Ceramic Museum, which houses a collection of more than 70.000 artefacts. It has won great acclaim with experts.

Marbach – birthplace of Schiller

This lovely little town on the Neckar river is worth a visit not just to see the house in which the great German poet was born. You shouldn’t miss the opportunity take a guided tour of the German Literature Museum, now forty years old.

Starting at Bad Cannstatt, there is a choice of waterways for a quiet, social or atmospheric boat trip. With large fleet of boats and a wide-ranging program, a trip on the Neckar offers many different opportunities to enjoy the atmosphere of a trip on water. (from April to October)

Stockcanue

Tübingen would not be the same without the Stockcanue. It is a part of this town just like the gondolas are a part of Venice. The vessel used in Tübingen, invites passengers to sit face to face, lean back comfortably, chat and enjoy the slow ride on the river while admiring the lush green river banks of the Neckar.

Sensapolis

A town of 1.000 adventures. Germany’s new one-of-a-kind indoor adventure park on the Flugfeld (airfield) Böblingen/Sindelfingen offers a mix of games, amazement, learning and experiencing for children of all ages. On 8,000 sqm of floor space, it is the perfect place to enjoy sensational attractions such as the world’s largest space ship, a fairytale castle, a spectacular action and climbing area and a gigantic landscape full of slides.

Schwaben Park

The Schwaben Park is a modern amusement park that offers a wide array of attractions. New features are added constantly. The park offers to many rides to list them all and it’s safe to say that the Schwaben Park is a place the entire Family will enjoy. A very special highlight is the now legendary chimpanzee show. However, the parrot theatre is another insider tip you should not miss.
